Nearly 3,000 passengers were stranded in various ports in Bicol and Eastern Visayas yesterday due to typhoon 'Carina'.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), a total of 2,769 passengers, 346 rolling cargoes, 47 vessels and 18 motor boats were stranded due to the storm.
Coast Guard District in Bicol, 1,873 passengers were stranded in various ports in the region, including 1,132 in Port of Matnog in Sorsogon; 331 Port of Pioduran, Albay; 150 Port of Tabaco, Albay; 101 Port of Craft, Masbate; 53 in Port of pasacao; 30 in Port of Pilar, Sorsogon; 18 th Port of Bulan, Sorsogon; 13 in Port of San Andres, Catanduanes; 15 in the Port of San Pascual, Masbate; 12 in Port of Mandaon; 10 in Port of Victory, Albay; and eight of the Port of Virac, Catanduanes.
In 225 rolling cargoes, 40 ships and 18 boats were stranded in the region.
PCG also suspended the sailing ships in the region after the top Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the storm warning signal number one in Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and Sorsogon.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard District in Eastern Visayas, 896 passengers were stranded, including 331 at the Port of Looc, 309 in the Port of San Isidro, and 256 in the Port of Jubusan, all in Catbalogan City.
Meanwhile, Rene Paciente, chief of the Marine Meteorological Services Section of PAGASA, possibly make landfall in the Carina Cagayan Sunday night.
Before noon yesterday, the storm spotted 175 kilometers east northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar, with winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour.
Moving north-northwest at 15 kilometers per hour.
In Signal No. 2 Isabela, and Signal No. 1 Cagayan, North Aurora, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Samar, Eastern Samar and Samar.
Carina is expected to appear in the Philippine area of responsibility tomorrow, Monday.
